Fake franchise of ‘Master Foam’ revealed in Gulshan-e-Iqbal; Citizen threatened to kill, application filed with police..
It has been revealed that an organized group in the Gulshan-e-Iqbal area of Karachi is selling fake products in the name of the famous brand ‘Master Foam’ and threatening citizens. According to the details, Raheel Siddique, a resident of North Nazimabad, has submitted a formal legal action request against Owais Enterprises in Gulshan-e-Iqbal (East) police station.
According to the affected citizen, he bought a mattress for Rs 45,000 from a person named Owais (who claims to be the owner of the franchise). The shopkeeper gave a 12-year warranty, however, the mattress completely collapsed in just 2 months. When a complaint was filed, the shopkeeper started threatening to kill the citizen instead of paying compensation.
The citizen says that after just two months of use, the mattress became unusable due to faulty material. When the affected citizen contacted the numbers mentioned on the warranty card, those numbers turned out to be inactive. Further investigation revealed that the Lahore address mentioned on the warranty card was also fake, which indicates systematic fraud. The petitioner took the stand that this matter not only falls under the category of Sections 420 (cheating) and 506 (intimidation) of the Pakistan Penal Code, but it is also a clear violation of the Sindh Consumer Protection Act. The fake addresses and contact numbers mentioned on the warranty card prove that this is a well-planned fraud. The affected citizen, Raheel Siddique, alleged that when he complained to the shop owner, Owais, instead of admitting his mistake, he severely harassed the citizen and threatened to kill him if he came to the shop. The citizen says that he has also suffered physical and neck pain due to this mental torture and the use of poor mattresses. The complainant Raheel Siddique has demanded that a case be registered against this group that robbed innocent citizens under the provisions of fraud, deceit and threats and that those who do fake business in the name of the brand be brought to justice.
The police have received the application. The complainant contacted the accused for a statement but did not receive any response.
After this incident, a voice is being raised on social media against the “fake franchise mafia” so that other citizens can be protected from such looters.
