Islamabad (Digital Post) The incidents of targeted attacks by Israel on media in Lebanon, particularly the targeting of journalists, have caused global concern. Islamabad Union of Journalists strongly condemned the killing of Lebanese journalists in severe words. During the past one month, at least five journalists have been martyred while several others have also been injured. In the latest incident, in an Israeli attack on a media vehicle covering the war situation, three journalists — Ali Shuaib, Fatima, and Mohammad Fattouni, who were reporters and cameramen of TV channels, were martyred on the spot, which the Islamabad Union of Journalists declared an attack on press freedom. Shahnawaz Khan, Chairman of the Islamabad Union of Journalists, strongly condemned the incident and said that targeting journalists is open terrorism and a war crime. Fayaz Tanoli, President of the Islamabad Union of Journalists, Vice President Zafar Iqbal Awan, Vice President (Women) Faiza Younas, General Secretary Sardar Sajjad Tariq, Finance Secretary Malik Najeeb, along with other office-bearers and members of the executive body, also condemned this action and demanded that global institutions immediately take notice of this war crime by Israel and action be taken against those responsible, because ensuring the protection of journalists is a shared responsibility of the international community. Civil and journalistic circles also expressed deep sorrow and grief over this incident.
