This is a very serious concern
a fresh instance of misuse of authority has surfaced involving the Executive Director of NICVD, Professor Tahir Sagheer (RTD).
Sources state that he is 65 years old, retired from NICVD, and was politically reappointed as Executive Director. It is further alleged that he lacks the administrative experience and knowledge required for the position of ED.
According to reports, he unlawfully exercised his powers to appoint a contract employee, Wasif Shehzad, to a key position.
Sources reveal:
Wasif Shehzad was initially hired on a contract basis without approval from the Board of Governors.
He was later given additional charge and appointed to a Grade 19 regular post as Chief Operating Officer (COO).
This appointment was a clear violation of rules and regulations.
The matter was subsequently challenged in court, where:
Instead of defending his position, Retired Professor Tahir Sagheer submitted an apology.
He withdrew his orders.
Key Questions Raised:
Is this justice?
Will the misuse of authority in public institutions continue unchecked?
Do such decisions not damage the credibility of institutions?
It also raises concerns whether:
The Sindh Government will take action on this serious matter.
The appointment of incompetent individuals is undermining government credibility.
Demand: It is demanded that Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and the Chief Minister of Sindh:
Take immediate notice of the issue
Initiate action against those responsible
Ensure that such illegal practices are stopped
Ensuring transparency and merit in public institutions is essential. Such actions not only violate the law but also severely erode public trust.
