Rawalpindi (Digital Post) Rawalpindi Police, while maintaining the tradition of self-accountability, has dismissed ASI Muhammad Akhtar from service after alleged links with drug dealers were proven. According to police sources, complaints had been received against the said officer for some time, on the basis of which an investigation was initiated.
According to details, ASI Muhammad Akhtar spent a major part of his service in Chakwal, where various complaints regarding his conduct had also surfaced. About two years ago, he was transferred to Rawalpindi; however, according to sources, his previous behavior continued there as well, upon which departmental action was taken.
Police officials stated that no negligence will be tolerated in ensuring the process of accountability within the department, and strict action will continue against such elements who cause damage to the reputation of the department.
Meanwhile, public circles appreciated this action and demanded that the assets of the said officer should also be investigated, and action should be taken against other officials involved in similar matters. Citizens expressed hope that Punjab Police will continue indiscriminate action against personnel maintaining links with criminal elements so that public trust can be further strengthened.
