RAWALPINDI: A formal inquiry has been initiated against the administration of the illegal Mega City Gujar Khan in Rawalpindi. The Chairman of NAB has directed the DG NAB Rawalpindi to thoroughly investigate the matter, declaring citizens’ requests actionable.
In response to NAB’s orders, the DG NAB Rawalpindi has issued a notice to the administration of Mega City Gujar Khan. The fraudulent owners of Mega City, namely Sheikh Tayyab Al Aziz Builders, Mubasher Hayat Earthlink Enterprises, and Chaudhry Qaiser Tycoon Builders, initiated the project without obtaining necessary approvals from relevant institutions such as the Rawalpindi Development Authority, Department of Environment, and Department of Agriculture. They falsely claimed to have an NOC for the society before the public, deceiving thousands of citizens who invested their lifetime savings in this fraudulent project.
Raja Zahid Mir, head of the sales and marketing department of the fraudulent group, declared Mega City Gujar Khan as the property of Shahid Qureshi, the country head of Bahria Town, in an attempt to gain trust. This deceit led to the deprivation of hundreds of overseas investors of their billions of rupees in savings.
Sheikh Tayyab, Mubasher Hayat, and Chaudhry Qaiser, known as ‘party broker suppliers’ in the real estate sector, assured buyers of Mega City’s approval from the Rawalpindi Development Authority through an attractive publicity campaign for this illegal project. Through this campaign on social media and advertisement companies, they sold thousands of files, luring both domestic and overseas Pakistanis for what seemed like a safe investment.
The Mega City website and pamphlets still contain evidence of claims of approval from RDA. However, when contacted, the RDA spokesperson stated that citizens have been repeatedly warned against investing in illegal projects, and the housing society’s status is marked as illegal on the RDA website. Deputy Director Planning RDA, Sami Niazi, confirmed that Mega City Gujar Khan is indeed an illegal housing project. When questioned about participating in a drug party, he responded with, ‘Don’t you attend parties? One day, your photos and videos might also be leaked.’
The owners of Mega City, Sheikh Tayyab Al Aziz Builders, Mubasher Hayat Earthlink Enterprises, and Chaudhry Qaiser Tycoon Builders, are reported to organize dance and drug parties in Bahria Town Rawalpindi and posh areas of Islamabad. They allegedly invite government officials to these parties, managing to create secret indecent videos with trained girls for potential use against these officials.
In an exclusive interview with Digital Post, the victims of this scam, mostly retired soldiers of the Pakistan Army, claimed that the Mega City Gujar Khan site office and the main boulevard have been constructed by encroaching upon their ancestral lands. They asserted that the Mega City administration, with the support of the local land mafia, has ignored a Supreme Court order and seized their ancestral lands, including areas of public interest and government ponds. Despite complaints submitted to various authorities, including the Commissioner Rawalpindi Division, Deputy Commissioner, Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue, Assistant Commissioner Gujar Khan, and Tehsildar Rawalpindi, their efforts to reclaim their lands have been in vain.
Sources indicate that Sheikh Tayyab attempted to hinder the land identification process by organizing a special drug and dance party with three call girls for officials of the revenue department in a Bahria Town bungalow last night.
The spokesperson for Rawalpindi Development Authority has advised citizens to confirm with RDA before purchasing a plot or investing in any private housing society to avoid financial loss or fraud.
