1152 EMS Calls, 123 Rescue Operations and 82 Fire Emergencies Responded in September 2026

21 New Rescue & Firefighting Vehicles after Arriving in Karachi Port; have Fleet to Reach Islamabad On the directions of Federal Minister for Interior Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi and the able and effective supervision of the Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA), Sohail Ashraf, the Capital Emergency Service (CES), CDA continued comprehensive and effective emergency response, rescue and medical operations across Islamabad during September 2026, responding to a total of 1,475 emergency calls during the month.

The September 2026 operational figures demonstrate the wide-ranging responsibilities of the Capital Emergency Service, which responded to medical emergencies, road traffic crashes, fire incidents, rescue situations, dewatering requirements, animal rescue cases and other emergencies across the federal capital.

According to the Monthly Consolidated Emergency/Event Cover Report for September 2026, the Capital Emergency Service responded to 1,152 Emergency Medical Service (EMS) calls, representing the largest category of emergencies handled during the month. These included 544 medical emergencies, 433 road traffic crashes (RTCs), 120 miscellaneous cases, 46 fall/slip incidents, 6 crime-related cases and 3 drowning incidents.

The Capital Emergency Service also responded to 82 fire emergencies during September. The fire incidents comprised 29 electric fires, 10 house fires, 6 vehicle fires, 2 LPG/gas or liquid-related blast/fire incidents, 17 building/commercial area fires, 7 green-area fires and 11 garbage fires.

In addition to emergency medical and firefighting operations, CES teams carried out 123 rescue operations during the reporting period. These included 44 dewatering calls, 1 collapsed-structure incident, 11 mountain/well/trap rescue operations, 65 animal rescue calls and 2 fallen-tree incidents. The figures reflect the diverse range of emergencies requiring specialized rescue intervention across Islamabad.

The Capital Emergency Service also remained engaged in emergency cover-related duties during September. The service undertook 100 duties and 18 motorcade duties, making a total of 118 deployments during the month. No event deployment was recorded during the reporting period.

The consolidated report further records 1,013 victims associated with the reported emergencies. Of these, 979 were recorded under injured/illness cases, while 34 fatalities were reported. The report also records 148 cases of F/A on spot and 865 cases shifted, reflecting the emergency response and assistance provided by CES teams.

The effective and timely response of the Capital Emergency Service has also been appreciated by citizens of Islamabad, who have expressed their gratitude for the professional services being provided by CES personnel during emergencies. The sustained response to medical emergencies, road accidents, fires and diverse rescue situations has contributed to strengthening public confidence in the emergency response mechanism of the federal capital.

Citizens have particularly appreciated the continued availability of emergency services and the efforts of CES teams in providing timely assistance in difficult and critical situations. The Capital Emergency Service remains committed to serving citizens with dedication and responding to emergencies whenever and wherever required across Islamabad.

*21 New Rescue & Firefighting Vehicles Arrive at Karachi Port*

Against the backdrop of the growing operational requirements of Islamabad’s emergency services, a major step has also been taken to further strengthen the capital’s rescue and firefighting infrastructure.

Twenty-one new rescue and firefighting vehicles for Islamabad Rescue 1122 and the Fire Brigade have arrived at Karachi Port from China, marking a major expansion of the emergency response fleet after a gap of 17 years.

The new fleet is currently at Karachi Port and is expected to reach Islamabad from Karachi within five days, after which the vehicles will be deployed to further enhance the emergency response and firefighting capabilities of the federal capital.

The new vehicles will be available round-the-clock at six stations across Islamabad, providing additional operational capacity to emergency response teams and enabling them to respond more effectively to emergencies requiring modern and specialized equipment.

The newly arrived fleet comprises four aerial fire trucks, six fire towers and five fire tenders, along with state-of-the-art rescue and firefighting equipment. According to the briefing given to the Interior Minister, the new vehicles are capable of conducting operations at heights of up to 256 feet, significantly strengthening the capacity to deal with emergencies involving high-rise buildings and other difficult-to-access locations.

The arrival of these specialized vehicles represents an important enhancement of Islamabad’s emergency response infrastructure, particularly in view of the broad range of incidents already being handled by the Capital Emergency Service. The new fleet will provide additional operational support for responding to fire incidents, road traffic crashes, high-rise emergencies, rescue operations and other critical situations requiring specialized firefighting and rescue capabilities.

*Federal Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi termed the arrival of the new vehicles a welcome development and stated that the addition of the new vehicles represents the biggest expansion of the Islamabad Rescue fleet since 2009. He also expressed gratitude to the Government of China for expediting the supply of the new vehicles.*

The arrival of the new fleet at Karachi Port and its scheduled movement to Islamabad within five days marks a significant development in the ongoing efforts to enhance emergency preparedness in the federal capital. Once deployed, the vehicles will complement the existing resources and operational capabilities of the Capital Emergency Service and the Fire Brigade.

*Enhanced Emergency Capacity to Benefit Citizens*

The addition of the new fleet is particularly significant in view of the 1,475 emergency calls responded to by CES during September alone. The combination of trained emergency personnel, existing operational resources and the new specialized rescue and firefighting vehicles will further strengthen Islamabad’s capacity to respond to both routine and complex emergencies.
