Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem visited the Regional Police Office Rawalpindi and chaired an important meeting of senior police officers of Rawalpindi Region. RPO Rawalpindi Babar Sarfraz Alpa, CPO Rawalpindi Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera, Regional Officers of Special Branch, CCD, CTD and other senior officers attended the meeting. IG Punjab was given a detailed briefing on the crime, law and order and security situation in Rawalpindi Region, particularly the security arrangements for the upcoming Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH).
IG Punjab Abdul Kareem directed that foolproof security arrangements be ensured for Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) processions and religious gatherings, with special attention to the security of procession routes, venues of religious gatherings and sensitive points. He said that officers and personnel deployed for security duties must be thoroughly briefed regarding their responsibilities, while effective liaison and coordination with religious scholars, organizers and district administration must be maintained during religious gatherings.
Taking a strict stance on incidents of accused persons escaping from police custody, IG Punjab Abdul Kareem directed supervisory officers to personally monitor such matters. He ordered that complete compliance with security protocols be ensured at all stages of police custody, handover and transportation of accused persons.
IG Punjab said that, under the Chief Minister Punjab’s Safe Punjab Vision, effective patrolling, snap checking, search operations and intelligence-based operations should be further strengthened for the prevention of crime. He directed that the arrest of suspects involved in serious crimes and merit-based investigation of cases be ensured. He further directed that prompt resolution of citizens’ complaints and timely provision of justice should be among the police’s top priorities. Senior officers should remain present in the field themselves to continuously monitor security arrangements.
IG Punjab Abdul Kareem said that protection of the lives, property, honour and dignity of citizens is the foremost responsibility of the police, and all resources must be utilized to fulfill this responsibility.
