Rawalpindi (Digital Post): Punjab Food Authority Takes Action Against Substandard and Unhygienic Meat Once Again

Share

Rawalpindi (Digital Post): According to details, the Punjab Food Authority in Rawalpindi has disposed of 600 kilograms of substandard and unhygienic meat. A case of alleged fraud has also been registered against the owner.

Residents of Rawalpindi have strongly urged the Director General of Punjab Food Authority to ensure regular inspections of wholesale meat shops in Pappar Bazaar and to keep a close watch on these outlets through special surveillance teams.

According to local residents, hundreds of kilograms of substandard and unhygienic meat are allegedly brought into the area on a daily basis in locally made vehicles so that it can evade the attention of the authorities. The meat is then allegedly supplied to local shops through rickshaws and taxis and sold to the public.

Residents have particularly raised concerns about meat shops in Kuckar Chowk No. 1, Pirwadhai, Rawalpindi, alleging that substandard meat is being sold openly at several shops in the area.

The public has demanded strict action against those involved in the sale and distribution of substandard meat so that such practices can be stopped. They have also called for action against any officials or individuals who may allegedly be facilitating such activities.

Residents further stated that such large-scale transportation of substandard meat from other cities of Punjab would not be possible without some form of alleged assistance or negligence. They urged the Punjab Food Authority to conduct transparent and comprehensive investigations and take action against all those found responsible.
