Rawalpindi/Islamabad (Digital Post) Syed Nadeem Mansoor, Corporate Member and President of the Founder Democrat Group, has filed an application with the Director General Trade Organizations (DGTO) seeking an audit of the membership of the Islamabad Chamber, claiming that the matter has yet to be heard.

Syed Nadeem Mansoor stated that more than 100 new members have been added to the voters’ list, while more than 100 members have been removed. He said it is necessary to determine whether these members have completed the required one-year or two-year membership period and how it can be verified whether they are genuine members or have been added to the voters’ list solely for the purpose of casting votes.

He further stated that, if nothing else, biometric verification through NADRA using thumbprint identification should be introduced. According to him, if such verification is implemented, he does not believe the current group would be able to win the election.

He also said that every voter should cast his or her own vote, noting that this is the practice followed by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). However, he alleged that the Chamber does not follow this procedure and instead manages the election process by allowing nominated representatives to vote. He said that the concept of a nominee casting a vote in an election is beyond comprehension and should be abolished.

Syed Nadeem Mansoor emphasized that free and fair elections should be held in the Chamber. He said this would only be possible if the DGTO ensures that the election process is transparent and decisions are made strictly in accordance with the law.

He further stated that they are also pursuing the issue of the increased Chamber fee. According to him, the DGTO had previously issued an ex parte decision regarding the matter without hearing the complainant, effectively deciding the case based on its own earlier ruling.
