Islamabad (Digital Post) Serious concerns expressed over the Federal Constitutional Court’s decision regarding the rights of third-party workers. Social and political leader Liaqat Ali Sahi expressed serious concern and reservations over the recent decision of the Federal Constitutional Court, stating that not recognizing the constitutional right of third-party workers to permanent employment will affect the economic, social, and human rights of millions of laborers and their families.

Social and political leader Liaqat Ali Sahi expressed serious concern and reservations over the recent decision of the Federal Constitutional Court, stating that not recognizing the constitutional right of third-party workers to permanent employment will affect the economic, social, and human rights of millions of laborers and their families.

The Constitution of Pakistan guarantees every citizen equal rights, human dignity, protection under the law, and freedom from exploitation. Articles 3, 4, 9, 18, 25, and 37(e) of the Constitution of Pakistan clearly bind the state to ensure the rights, welfare, and social protection of the working class.

Liaqat Ali Sahi said that in government and semi-government institutions across the country, permanent nature work has been carried out for years through third-party and outsourcing systems, yet workers are being deprived of permanent employment, pension, social security, medical facilities, and other basic rights, which is open injustice and an exploitative practice.

He demanded from the Prime Minister of Pakistan, the Chief Justice of Pakistan, and the Chief Justice of the Federal Constitutional Court that they immediately take notice of this sensitive national issue and take practical steps for the protection of the constitutional and legal rights of the working class.

He emphasized that true implementation of the Employment Standing Order 1968 should be ensured because this law is a constitutional and legal guarantee approved by Parliament for the employment, service structure, and basic protections of workers. Liaqat Ali Sahi said that if, instead of enforcing Parliament-approved legislation, especially the Standing Order 1968, the courts leave institutional administrations completely free, then questions also arise regarding the constitutional status and dignity of Parliament’s legislation. Legislation is the authority of Parliament and the basis of public representation, therefore no administration should be above labor laws.

He further said that in the past, several Supreme Court decisions emphasized the protection of workers, equal treatment, and the elimination of exploitative systems. In such circumstances, the recent decision may increase anxiety and feelings of deprivation among the working class.

He appealed to all labor organizations, trade unions, lawyers’ organizations, human rights institutions, and political parties to unite and raise their voices on this important national issue so that the constitutional, legal, and human rights of the working class can be effectively protected.

Workers do not only demand employment, but also dignity, protection, and equal rights. It is the responsibility of the state to provide justice to every worker and ensure full implementation of labor laws approved by Parliament.
