Rawalpindi (Digital Post) — Petrol has started accumulating in the basement of a plaza adjacent to a private petrol pump located on Bostan Khan Road in the Chaklala Cantonment Board area. The plaza owner, Fida Butt, in an application to the CEO of Chaklala Cantonment Board, stated that a tank of the adjacent private petrol pump is located along the wall of his plaza, and due to leakage, petrol is seeping into the basement.
There are also two private banks and two private educational academies operating within the plaza. According to Fida Butt, he was informed by bank staff in the morning that petrol had begun to accumulate in the basement, which could be dangerous. He immediately informed the police and Rescue 1122, who reached the scene. The owner of the private petrol pump, Dost Muhammad Khan, was also informed and arrived at the site but denied that the leakage was coming from his pump.
Fida Butt stated that he had previously informed the petrol pump owner that their fuel tank is adjacent to the plaza wall and that petrol was leaking from there, but his concerns were ignored. He urged the cantonment administration to immediately seal the petrol pump and conduct a thorough inspection so the issue can be resolved.
When contacted, petrol pump owner and former Nazim of Dhoke Munshi, Dost Muhammad Khan, said that the petrol accumulating in the basement is not from his pump. He claimed that their entire system is computerized and even half a liter of petrol is accounted for in the system. He added that he had shut down the pump since morning to satisfy the plaza owner, but according to the system, the quantity of petrol remains unchanged, with not even half a liter missing.
He further stated that their system immediately reflects even a one-liter discrepancy, suggesting that the leakage could be from some other line or source. In conclusion, Dost Muhammad Khan said that all institutions are respectable, and they are fully cooperating. He requested the authorities to conduct a transparent inquiry so that he can continue his business.
