Karachi (Digital Post) Sindh Food Authority conducted a raid in DHA Phase 6 and recovered a large quantity of expired items and milk from a café.
On the instructions of Provincial Minister for Food Makhdoom Mehboob-uz-Zaman, Sindh Food Authority carried out a major operation in Karachi.
Expired butter, chaat masala, and whipped cream were recovered from the café, said the spokesperson of Sindh Food Authority.
A fine of 1 million rupees was imposed on the café for serious violation of the law, the spokesperson of Sindh Food Authority said.
Some items were found with fake labeling, while necessary documents related to food information were also not available, according to the spokesperson of Sindh Food Authority.
During the operation, expired almond flavor essence was recovered from the production area, and serious violations of food safety laws came to light.
During the inspection by the food safety team, signs of rat droppings were found in the storage area, and no pest control chemicals were present, said the spokesperson of Sindh Food Authority.
During the inspection, some food items did not have manufacturing and expiry dates mentioned, which is a clear violation of food safety laws, the spokesperson of Sindh Food Authority stated.
Due to serious violations of the law, the café was sealed and fined 1 million rupees, according to the spokesperson of Sindh Food Authority.
