Karachi (Digital Post): Coal theft and illegal business by Malir Police has been exposed,

where it has been alleged that stolen coal is being collected on a daily basis at a coal warehouse located near Byco Pump in Steel Mill Chowrangi, Shah Latif Police, Sukhan Police and Somar Goth areas.

According to sources, the said warehouse is allegedly being run by coal mafia Javed Masood, Shahid Pathat, Aslam Chandio, Hameed Chandio, Khalid Shah and their associates. It is said that coal is stolen from dumpers loaded with coal coming from Port Qasim with the alleged collusion of drivers and stored in the warehouse. Later, the same coal is loaded into dumpers in tons and transported to different locations.

Local sources say that during all this activity, no effective action has been seen from Steel Town Police, due to which the mafia’s business continues openly.

On the other hand, reports have also been received that a coal warehouse has allegedly been established on about two acres of government land in Somar Goth, which is being run by individuals named Javed Masood and Wajid. According to sources, dumpers full of coal are unloaded there daily, while black soil is filled into dumpers from there and sent towards the areas of Railway and Ghaghar Phatak.

According to residents of the area, due to this warehouse established on government land in Somar Goth, not only is illegal business being promoted but environmental pollution and other problems in the area are also increasing.

It should be noted that in Malir and its surrounding areas, an increase in illegal coal business has been observed for the past several months. Local people say that due to the alleged patronage of influential elements, obstacles have been created in taking action against this business.

Citizens have demanded from higher authorities that investigations should be conducted against this alleged network of illegal warehouses on government land and coal theft, and legal action should be taken against the responsible elements.
