Islamabad (Digital Post) SHO Police Station Khanna has completely failed to arrest drug dealers in his area. Another unpleasant incident has occurred within the limits of the police station. Why are drug dealers so powerful? Residents of the area have once again appealed to Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and have also recorded a protest this time. Worshippers of Zainab Mosque and the Imam were allegedly assaulted, which is being termed a complete failure of the SHO. Questions are now being raised about how serious an incident could occur in Islamabad.
Clash between drug dealers and worshippers in the jurisdiction of Police Station Khanna, residents protest.
A regrettable incident of conflict and violence occurred between drug dealers and worshippers of Zainab Mosque in the area of Zia Mosque within the limits of Police Station Khanna. According to eyewitnesses, during the holy month of Ramadan, when worshippers coming to the mosque saw drug dealers active in the area and tried to stop them, an exchange of words escalated into a physical altercation.
Residents say that drug dealers are openly continuing their illegal business under the nose of the SHO, and those who try to stop or complain against them are threatened — both by the drug dealers and, according to citizens, by the police station as well. Citizens collectively went to Police Station Khanna and informed the SHO about the entire situation; however, their concerns were not effectively heard.
Local residents have demanded immediate notice from higher authorities and appealed to Islamabad Police SSP Operations, DIG, and IG to take strict legal action against drug dealers and to provide special police security around Zainab Mosque and adjoining areas during Ramadan so that worshippers can feel safe.
Residents have warned that if immediate action is not taken, they will be forced to expand their protest. Civil circles say that ensuring the sanctity of mosques and the protection of citizens’ lives and property during the holy month is the responsibility of the concerned institutions.
