Haripur (Digital Post): A target has been set to eliminate drug dealing from the district; bogus cases will not be made; drug dealers should repent and reform themselves; work on redefining police station jurisdictions is underway; a solid policy will be formulated to control traffic congestion. These remarks were made by District Police Officer Haripur, Shafiullah Gandapur, during his first meeting with the cabinet of Haripur Press Club after assuming charge.
The meeting was arranged at the DPO Office Haripur, where the cabinet of Haripur Press Club was led by its President Hanif Akhtar. On this occasion, Chairman Executive Council Hafiz Muhammad Zubair, Senior President Haripur Press Club Abrar Ahmed Tanoli, senior member Abdul Basit Chaudhry, Vice President Bakht Zada Khan, Yasir Khan, M. Arshad, Dr. Arshad Mahmood Akash, Raja Gul, Afzal Ahmed, and other journalists were also present.
DPO Haripur Shafiullah Gandapur said that the journalist community has a close relationship with the police, and the police receive the best guidance from journalists. Many important decisions have been taken on the identification and feedback of journalists, and positive expectations are associated with Haripur Press Club. He said that the roots of drug dealing are being cut, and soon drugs will be eradicated from Haripur district.
He further stated that a program of 13 open courts has been scheduled in the district to hear public complaints, and an open court is being held on January 13 at the City Police Station. In response to a question, he said that they are aware that the jurisdictions of several police stations are far from the reach of applicants in the relevant areas, and in order to reach some police stations one has to pass through other districts. Therefore, work is underway to ensure that the relevant police station or post for each area is located nearby.
The District Police Officer Haripur said that soon visits to universities will be conducted to launch an awareness campaign for the new younger generation to protect them from the menace of drugs, and that no unlawful cases will be registered by the police against anyone. On the identification of Haripur Press Club, he also immediately ordered the deployment of a constable at the gate of the Ladies and Children Park, Mohalla Motiyaan.
