KARACHI (Digital Post) Karachi The National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) in Karachi has once again come under fire following revelations in the Director General Audit Sindh’s annual report for the fiscal year 2023-24. The report exposes serious corruption and administrative irregularities under the leadership of Dr. Tahir Saghir, holding him responsible for leading the institution toward financial mismanagement. According to the audit, the illegal appointment of Head of Security Syed Fazal Abbas resulted in a financial loss exceeding Rs. 12 million, while the irregular hiring of Head of Human Resources Dawar Hussain caused a loss of over Rs. 8 million. The report paints a bleak picture of NICVD’s governance, pointing toward a culture of nepotism, favoritism, and gross violations of rules and procedures. Public and civil society circles are expressing deep concern over how personal interests and unlawful appointments have cost the national institution millions, and are demanding to know why no action has yet been taken against those responsible for this systemic corruption.
