ISLAMABAD (Digital Posts) Senate Chairman Congratulates Newly Elected RIBJA Office-Bearers

ISLAMABAD, September 28, 2026 (Digital Posts): Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has congratulated the newly elected office-bearers of the Rawalpindi-Islamabad Bureau Journalists Association (RIBJA) and expressed his best wishes for their tenure.

In his message, Gilani congratulated newly elected President Syed Mujahid Naqvi, General Secretary Chaudhry Muhammad Shafiq, Vice Presidents Nusrat Abbas Shah, Asif Hamdani, Farooq Ahmed and Mujahid Bhatti, Joint Secretary Rizwan Tahir Chohan, and other office-bearers.

He said the election of the new RIBJA office-bearers reflected the confidence of the journalist community in their professional abilities and leadership.

The Senate chairman expressed hope that the new leadership would work for the welfare of journalists, promote professional development and contribute to addressing the issues faced by journalists working in Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

Gilani also highlighted the role of free, responsible and impartial journalism in a democratic society. He said the media provides citizens with timely and accurate information, highlights public issues and helps communicate people’s concerns to government institutions.

He noted that journalists in Rawalpindi and Islamabad perform important professional responsibilities at the national level while also reporting on matters of public and national importance.

The Senate chairman expressed his best wishes to the newly elected RIBJA office-bearers and hoped they would continue to promote professional journalistic values and work for the welfare of the journalist community.
