ISLAMABAD (Digital Post) A special ceremony was organized by the Rawalpindi Islamabad Sports Journalists Association (RSJA) on the occasion of World Sports Journalists Day, in which Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar cut a cake along with sports journalists. On this occasion, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar administered oath to the newly elected body of RASJA, Abu Bakr bin Talat President, Zulfiqar Baig Senior Vice President, Vice Presidents Asghar Ali Mubarak and Zahid Awan, Ambrain Ali General Secretary, Zeeshan Qayyum Senior Joint Secretary, Owais Latif, Aqeel Anjum Joint Secretary, Nasir Abbas Naqvi Finance Secretary, Governing Body Faheem Anwar Khan, Gabriel D’Souza, Owais Abbasi, Kiran Khan and Asim Riaz.
The event organized in collaboration with Serena Hotel was attended by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Badr Shahbaz, Federal Secretary for Inter-Provincial Coordination Mohiuddin Wani, Director General Pakistan Sports Board Yawar Hussain, Director Sales and Marketing of Serena Hotel Imran Hassan, President of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists Afzal Butt, President National Press Club Abdul Razak Sial, Secretary Finance Abid Abbasi, and former captain of the national hockey team Shakeel Abbasi, among others.
Addressing the event, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar paid tribute to the services of the journalist community on World Sports Journalists Day and said that sports is very close to my heart; if there are no sports journalists, how could this entertainment reach the public? He said that sports journalist Abdul Mohi Shah was awarded the Medal of Excellence by the government, an honor for journalists from across Pakistan. Attaullah Tarar further said that sports journalists should form a committee; I will try to implement all your suggestions. The Ministry of Information and the government will continue to provide all possible support to sports journalists. Addressing the ceremony, Federal Secretary Inter-Provincial Coordination Mohiuddin Wani said that our journey with sports journalists is very important, and they fully support us. He added that hiring a foreign coach in hockey is a difficult task; when I took charge of the Hockey Federation, there were only two million funds, which have increased to 400 million today.
