KARACHI (Digital Post) Karachi The DG Audit report has raised serious objections over the appointment of Chief Security Officer Fazal Abbas. The report states that he was hired on contract at the age of seventy and has been serving for three years in violation of rules. The report describes the appointment as favoritism and a form of patronage that has placed an unnecessary burden on public funds.
The report highlights that several senior security officers are already available in the department. Despite this, administrative negligence has kept Fazal Abbas on contract. He is now seventy three years old. Senior officers have expressed concern that this decision undermines departmental performance. They demand protection of public funds and adherence to merit.
Data suggests that ending this contract can save about eight lakh rupees every month. The annual savings can reach nearly ten million rupees.
Sources report that Fazal Abbas remains confined to his room throughout the day. They claim he cannot walk properly or perform active field duty. Officers say this situation affects operational efficiency. They have called for his immediate removal and for the post to be filled on merit.
