: A legal complaint has been filed before the consumer court of Islamabad against an automobile firm for allegedly selling a defective Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) to a buyer.
The complainant Mohammad Saad Ullah Qureshi accused Gandhara Nissan (Private) Limited and its authorized dealership, Chery Capital of unfair trade practices and the delivery of a defective vehicle.
Qureshi, a resident of Islamabad, claims that the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro he leased was plagued with issues from the time of delivery.
According to the complaint, Qureshi received the vehicle on July 6, 2024, after leasing it through First Habib Mudaraba. However, a pre-delivery inspection conducted by Pak Wheels highlighted scratches and assembly defects in the brand-new car. Despite these findings, the dealership proceeded with the handover.

The complainant detailed multiple defects in the vehicle, including, persistent vibrations during braking, noise from the sunroof panel due to improper installation, malfunctioning air conditioning, particularly during the summer months, a glitchy sound system and subpar fuel mileage.
Efforts to resolve these issues with the dealership and the company were allegedly ignored. The complaint also accuses the dealership of refusing to honor warranty commitments, claiming the warranty on the braking system expired after 5,000 kilometers despite the vehicle having a four-year or 150,000-kilometer warranty.
“Despite several complaints and legal notices, the company and dealership have failed to address the defects or provide a replacement vehicle,” Qureshi’s legal counsel stated.
The complainant has requested the court to direct the respondents to replace the vehicle with a defect-free model and compensate for damages amounting to Rs. 100,000. An additional claim of Rs. 250,000 for litigation costs has also been made. Ends
