ISLAMABAD (Digital Posts) The true development of a nation is reflected in how its development changes people’s lives and opens the door to new opportunities for them. This arises important questions like, what difference does Nation development make to the lives of ordinary citizens. Do youth get opportunities to develop their skills? Can education be transformed into jobs and businesses? Does new technology help solve people’s problems? In my opinion, the true success of a nation comes when development opens the doors to a better future for its people, rather than being limited to a few numbers. China’s development journey is a prime example of how a country can use its economic growth, human resources and international cooperation to create new opportunities.

China’s development did not happen overnight. This has been driven by factors such as long-term planning, economic reforms, industrial development, infrastructure construction and a focus on human resources. According to the World Bank, over the past four decades, China has lifted nearly 800 million people above the international extreme poverty line. During this period, China has contributed close to three-quarters of the total reduction in extreme poverty worldwide. This result and success shows that sustained economic transformation and development policies can makes a big difference in people’s lives.

However, learning from another country’s experience does not mean adopting its entire system. Every country’s circumstances, resources, institutions and public needs are different. The important lesson from China’s experience is that development requires consistency, clear priorities and policies that deliver results in people’s lives. Along with poverty reduction, improving access to education, health, employment and basic amenities is also part of sustainable development.

Human capital is the real foundation in the development of any nation. Buildings, machines and natural resources are certainly helpful for development but people with knowledge, skills and creative thinking are essential to effectively take advantage of them. Just getting a degree is not enough, education should also be tied to practical experience, digital skills, problem-solving ability and needs changing world. When young people can use their knowledge in practical work, they are not only able to get employment but also introduce new businesses, services and innovations.

China’s experience also makes it clear that youth are an important capital for the development of a country. Various measures are being taken to provide education, training and employment opportunities to the youth in Pakistan as well. However, the effectiveness of these measures can be further enhanced if training is linked to practical projects, internships, mentorships, business support and employment opportunities. Educational institutions, government institutions and the private sector can jointly create such programs in which the youth not only acquire knowledge but also use it practically. Education and skills can thus play an effective role in national development.

In this regard, Countries can also learn from one another experience to create greater opportunities for youth and achieve shared progress. The significance of China’s development journey lies not only in its own economic growth but also in its ability to open up new avenues for development through cooperation with other countries. China has also expanded its links with the global economy by developing its industry, trade, technology and infrastructure. China’s accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) in 2001 has further enhanced its role in global trade, while the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), launched in 2013, aims to provide a broad platform for infrastructure, connectivity and economic cooperation between different countries.

These initiatives help to understand that development is not just about increasing resources within a country but also about creating connections through which different countries can move forward together. When countries exchange trade, investment, technology and experiences, this cooperation can create new business opportunities, job opportunities and economic activities for the local population. In this way, the development of one country can also create opportunities for other countries to learn, cooperate and use their resources better.

From China’s experience, developing countries can learn that international partnerships should not be limited to large projects or investment figures but should also be linked to improving people’s lives, developing local industries, increasing youth skills and creating new job opportunities. True international cooperation is one in which countries, while advancing their own national development also create development opportunities for each other. When trade, technology, investment and knowledge exchange are based on mutual benefit, it can not only strengthen the development of the participating countries but also open up a better future for their people.

The real importance of international cooperation is that a country, while advancing its own development and national interests, also creates opportunities with other countries that are mutually beneficial. However, it is essential that joint projects are tailored to local needs, that their benefits reach the people and that they contribute to long-term development. In this way, international partnerships are no longer just economic relations but can become a source of shared opportunities and mutual prosperity.

‎‎‎‎The lesson learned from China’s development journey is that the real quality of national development is not only the economic volume but the ability to transform this economic power into the betterment of the people, human abilities, research and new opportunities. Similarly, the importance of international cooperation lies in the fact that countries develop their development as well as create growth opportunities for each other. Developing countries are required to make human capital, practical skills, innovation and effective international partnerships part of their development strategy according to their circumstances.

Ultimately, a nation’s real wealth lies not just in its resources or economic power, but in the ability to transform the ability of its people into opportunities and in turn transform these opportunities into sustainable and shared prosperity. This is the concept of development in which the success of a nation opens new ways of positive cooperation with other countries along with the betterment of its people.
