Islamabad (Digital Post) In collusion with Forest Department officials, the timber mafia is ruthlessly felling trees under the cover of darkness in the forests of Upper Muradabad, Dangian, Noon Bagla, and Thandi Kasi (specifically Compartment No. 3, Tehsil Chakar, District Jhelum Valley). Seven large, valuable Kail (blue pine) trees have been cut down on state forest land, resulting in a massive loss for the state. Local resident Yaseen Ahmed Shah has urged the Minister of Forests for Azad Jammu & Kashmir to take action, stating, “We will continue to raise our voices for truth and justice; we possess concrete evidence\u2014including video footage\u2014documenting exactly where the trees were felled, and the forest itself bears witness to its own devastation.” Deforestation has endangered wildlife and increased the risk of landslides.
