Islamabad (Digital Posts) Rawalpindi During the anti-dengue campaign launched by the Punjab Health Department, actions were taken in various areas of the city and cantonment over poor sanitation arrangements. Following complaints of dengue larvae found in underground water storage tanks at homes, commercial establishments, and educational institutions, as well as large drums kept in hotels, 353 cases were registered against citizens and fines totaling Rs 533,000 were imposed.While performing official duties, staff also faced fights, threats, and political interference in different parts of the city,Actions were taken against 37 educational institutions in the city and cantonment for poor sanitation arrangements and violations of dengue SOPs related to the provision of clean drinking water.Effective operations continue against food outlets, restaurants, wedding halls, and catering businesses in various markets and locations for SOP violations and non-availability of health certificates. In this regard, action was taken against 107 violating establishments.District Sanitary Inspector Rawalpindi\/Murree Shahid Mahmood stated that institutions without health certificates have been issued notices by the Punjab Health Department to obtain them immediately; otherwise, they will not be allowed to continue their businesses.In further actions, during an inspection by the team at Gawalmandi Chowk Abadat Hospital on Liaquat Road, disciplinary action was taken after dengue larvae were detected.Discussing water filtration plants, District Sanitary Inspector Shahid Mahmood said that action is being taken against businesses supplying drinking water. Those selling substandard water will face heavy fines. The sale of low-quality bottled water had been rapidly spreading diarrhoea infections, which has been largely brought under control through rigorous operations.He added that various teams of the Rawalpindi Health Department are fully engaged in action against quack clinics, health centres, fake doctors, and fraudulent healers who play with public health.
