Islamabad (Digital Post)<\/strong> These days, the world has come up with some very strange types of relationships \u2014 Sugar Mommy, Sugar Daddy, Sponsor, Patron, Godfather, Kingmaker, and so on. The politics of Rawalpindi is also going through a similarly interesting phase these days. There are some political tricksters here who have started considering themselves Sugar Daddies. The Ministry of Railways is orphaned, and the gentleman wants to become a Sugar Daddy. The only problem is that to become a Sugar Daddy, one must first not be dependent on someone else.<\/p>\n

And the tragedy of Rawalpindi politics is that the political standing of some individuals itself appears to be dependent on one support, patronage, or another power umbrella, yet their conversation is as if they are the sole owners of the politics of the entire city. This is a strange kind of Sugar Daddy who himself is dependent on someone else\u2019s shadow while claiming to provide shade to others.<\/p>\n

Looking at his activities, it seems that along with politics, lifestyle management has also become part of the ministry\u2019s responsibilities. Looking at the gentleman, it appears as though he has become a Louis Vuitton (LV) brand ambassador. He can be seen promoting and heavily marketing LV from the National Assembly to everywhere else. On top of that, he is also seen wearing those checkered shoes; now it is not known which brand he is marketing. It feels as though the political track has also become two-way. On one track, the Pakistan of the people is running, while on the other track, the VIP Lifestyle Express is running. The public asks, \u201cSir, will the train arrive on time or not?\u201d And in response, political engagements, protocol, and comings and goings continue as usual.<\/p>\n

The railway tracks are there in their place, but the question is: Is the railway even running? And if it is running, where is its flow visible in the lives of the people?<\/p>\n

Neither do the people of your constituency appear satisfied with your performance, nor do the people of the city seem impressed by your political comings and goings. However, there is certainly one thing worthy of praise: your comings and goings in this particular field continue without interruption.<\/p>\n

As for Rawalpindi, this city is not anyone\u2019s personal fiefdom. This is the city that has loved Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, remained politically loyal to him, and stood by him during many difficult times. Therefore, do not consider the love of the people of Rawalpindi for Nawaz Sharif as the credit for your personal political performance. That love is a separate trust, and the people know how to view their love for a leader and the performance of a local political role separately.<\/p>\n

He himself stands with someone else\u2019s support and claims to support others; he himself searches for a political ladder and then announces that he helped people climb upward; he himself makes appearances at someone else\u2019s doorstep and then walks out with his chest puffed up as if he had built the door himself. This is not a Sugar Daddy; he is simply a political enthusiast aspiring to become a Sugar Daddy.<\/p>\n

That is why a new term should be added to the politics of Rawalpindi: not \u201cSugar Daddy,\u201d but \u201cDependent on a Sugar Daddy!\u201d In other words, a political character who is dependent on some powerful support to run his political shop, but then starts considering that very shadow to be his own stature. The shadow belongs to someone else, the stature is claimed as his own; the support belongs to someone else, the claim is his own.
