Tangwani (Digital Post) The Government of Sindh is continuously taking measures to provide better healthcare facilities to the public. In this regard, financial assistance is being provided to pregnant women during pregnancy under the \u201cMamta Program\u201d with the support of the Sindh Government and the Social Protection Department, while treatment facilities are also available at government hospitals.
\nThese views were expressed by the head of Social Security Health Services, Muhammad Shoaib, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kashmore Masroor Ahmed Bijarani, and Ms. Huma Halepoto while addressing an awareness seminar held at a local hotel in Kandhkot.
\nThey stated that the Mamta Program is operational in 22 districts of Sindh, while 38 hospitals in Kashmore district are providing services under the program, including 35 PPHI hospitals and the remaining Health Department hospitals.
\nThe speakers said that the project was launched based on the Brazilian model with the aim of improving maternal and child health, childbirth, and child development to ensure timely treatment and better care for mothers and children.
\nThey further explained that registration with the program is mandatory to receive benefits, and bank accounts will also be opened for pregnant women where payments will be transferred.
\nUnder the Sindh Government\u2019s Mamta Program, pregnant women will receive a total of Rs. 41,000 from monthly medical checkups during pregnancy until childbirth and the first 1,000 days of the child\u2019s development.
\nOn this occasion, District Coordinator Health (DCH) Ghulam Muhammad Khan said that the Mamta Program has been operational in Kashmore district since March 2024, and so far 76,000 deserving women have been registered. He added that since March 2024, the Sindh Government has provided Rs. 550 million under the program.
\nHe emphasized that women should be provided awareness regarding health issues and that such programs should also be organized in rural areas so that pregnant women can receive complete medical care and give birth to healthy children.
\nDistrict Health Officer Syed Ejaz Ali, Monitoring Officer of Mamta Program Social Protection Sindh Om Prakash, officers from federal and provincial departments, and representatives of district NGOs also attended the event.
