According to a report by the American magazine Newsweek<\/em>, these images were provided by a soldier stationed on the U.S. aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln. Gerald D. Givens Jr., head of an NGO working for the welfare of soldiers and a retired U.S. Air Force official, stated that he received these images through a friend whose son is serving on the same ship in the Middle East.<\/p>\n

Givens told the magazine, \u201cMy friend said that his son has lost 17 pounds.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the report, the images sent by the officer showed very small portions of food on meal trays, including a small piece of meat, a little amount of chopped meat, and limited side items.<\/p>\n

The magazine reported that the Pentagon rejected all claims of food shortages on the ships and did not comment on the new images.<\/p>\n

According to the report, similar images of meals provided on two U.S. ships had also surfaced a week earlier, which faced severe criticism online. Those images also showed small portions of meat and vegetables.<\/p>\n
