KARACHI (Digital Post) Karachi The Young Doctors Association Karachi has strongly opposed the proposed illegal extension of the Secretary of the Sindh Blood Transfusion Authority. YDA Karachi President Dr Shehryar Raza stated that the extension violates service rules, merit, and public health safety. He said the current Secretary lacks the educational qualification, experience, and professional competence required for this sensitive and technical position. Despite this, she continues to hold the post due to non transparent administrative decisions.
\nDr Shehryar said the authority must ensure a safe and regulated blood transfusion system. He added that HIV, Hepatitis B, and Hepatitis C cases have increased during the past three years. He called it proof of a weak regulatory structure. He confirmed that documentary evidence and records highlight irregularities in her appointment and performance.
\nYDA Karachi has presented five demands. One, cancel the illegal extension immediately.
\nTwo, appoint a qualified professional strictly on merit.
\nThree, conduct a full inquiry into the illegal appointment.
\nFour, stop blocking opportunities for competent officers.
\nFive, ensure transparent merit based appointments in all health regulatory bodies. Dr Shehryar said that keeping an unqualified person in such a critical position endangers public health and damages the credibility of the system.
